Nopal Dress/ Cape
Nopal Dress/ Cape
Nopal named after the tasty cactus of Oaxaca, for its color and its ease. This is a silk crepe dream, it feels like a second skin and floats behind you as you walk. Pleats in the back give it a roomy a-line feel, not to mention an eye catching detail. For the embroidery we have kept it simple with a grey and green vine winding around the body, peeking over the shoulder and on the right sleeve. Then to top it all off we put packets in so your hands have a place to rest. Slap a belt on it and give yourself a waistline, wear it open over jeans or shorts or button it up and let it flow behind you as you stroll. It is hand dyed so the silk color is unique just like you. This ones a real head turner
100% Silk Crepe

Because all of our textiles are hand dyed the colors vary making each dress unique, just like you :)
Kenworthy Mexico was birthed after our first trip to Oaxaca in 2017, our mission was to collect textiles, but soon realized we were more inspired by the tribal/ancient techniques used to embellish the local clothing. This time we came back with the objective to support the local artists and keep their artistry alive. Now Kenworthy creates the clothing on Martha's Vineyard and the final touches of embroidery are done in a women owned family taller (workshop) in Oaxaca Mexico. Through this we aim to support women owned artisans in a direct and fair trade model, ensuring that this beautiful, culture rich artistry is supported.
We make ten of each style in Silk, Cotton and Linen. Each are hand dyed with varying color then hand embroidered by an artisan family in Oaxaca, Mexico. The color pallet of this first collection was inspired by the local natural beauty of Oaxaca city and the desert that surrounds it. The embroidery design was inspired by the local plants that we grew to love here.
